Green Lemon
Green Lemon is modern Mexican food with a twist!
It will definitely be my hot spot this Summer when I am craving shrimp tacos, fiery queso, seasoned tortilla chips, and fresh guacamole.
Immediately walking into Green Lemon we were graced by the indie melody of 'Home' by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's. We arrived to lunch exactly at 2 P.M. The restaurant was slightly packed with families, couples on dates and girl friends catching up. We were seated in nearly thirty seconds at a small, square table in the the middle of the restaurant.
The painted calavera's (candy skulls) on the walls and backsplash near the bar definitely captured my attention, along with the beautiful light fixtures hanging from the walls.
Although it only took me a few seconds to figure out what I wanted to order, I could not stop looking through the menu for future, potential options. There's such a variety at Green Lemon, because they have their own custom dishes and 'decorated' tacos.
I kept it simple, yet upbeat and festive by ordering the Street Trio. For $11, you can have three tacos and a choice of rice & beans, salad, fries or veggies. To go along with my Carne Asada, Gigante Chicken and Taco Americano, I had black beans and rice.
The tacos had lots of flavor and were fresh, but next time I'll opt for a softer shell. And I'll personally pass on the Gigante chicken—at least on the crispy, hard shells.
However, I can understand why the Carne Asada is such a fan favorite at Green Lemon. Totally savory. I did really enjoy the mouth-watering queso and the beans & rice that complemented it to a T! From the looks of it, my friend Lex enjoyed her Southwest quesadilla, and twin sister Kat could not get enough of her seasoned shrimp tacos.
