The Hall on Franklin

This past weekend, I spontaneously checked out The Hall on Franklin during a lunch break with my sister. We were working downtown and needed a quick bite to eat. The Hall was definitely calling our name. I’ve always heard great things about the Euro-inspired speciality dining hall, so I was intrigued on trying a few of their dishes.

As expected, there was a Saturday afternoon crowd. Overall, the vibe of the Hall is upbeat yet still cozy and inviting. The decor is modern mixed with rustic. This is a cute spot for a first date, or catching up with friends who are visiting downtown Tampa. There’s over five restaurants in the hall from Bake’n Babes, to Poke Rose and Fork & Hen. The Hall’s menu lists all the restaurants and you can order from different ones, which is convenient!

I was interested in their brunch options, array of Mexican bowls and bruschetta, but ultimately decided on the pork ramen from the North Star Eatery. I also tried their crab rangoon dip. Now, for those of you who do not know me personally….I’m a ramen girl. In fact, I’m super fond of authentic, flavorful ramen that I could indulge it on a daily basis. I had high expectations for the Hall’s ramen, since I enjoy Ichicoro down the street at Armature, but it was sort of a let down. There was so much potential, but the noodles were not super tasty and the broth was watered down.

As far as the crab rangoon dip, it was pretty good. The dip was warmed and went amazingly well with the crispy wonton chips. That was the highlight of my trip at the Hall. I’d go back again with a group of friends and order two of those, for sure.

Honestly, the food was okay. I’m not going to totally dismiss The Hall’s menu, because I’m sure their breakfast options are very promising. The next time I’m working or hanging out downtown, I would love to visit with an open heart, an open mind and open taste buds, LOL.

I can say, that the Hall is full of photo opts, admirable detail and classy interior design. They get a solid nine for their aesthetics, culture and cleanliness. I think the atmosphere in venues, restaurants and highly-raved about spots is a key component to one’s overall experience there.

I will be back to the Hall to explore their other hopeful options. I would love to try one of the signature Poke bowls from Poke Rose, or the fresh hommade ravioli from their Italian restaurant, Sorellina.

The Hall is a nice, stylish get-a-away from the suburbs if you want to get drinks with friends, or venture out and entertain your food palate. The next time I visit, I will be posting about the new goodies I find.
